This November we are hosting two Workshops for Women who want to learn more about Menopause and Exercise!

Brought to you in partnership with Irene Clarke – Female, Athlete, Health Coach.

WORKSHOP 1
Impact of the Menopause on Physical Activity

Are you Peri or Post Menopausal?
Do you want to keep active?
Waterford Sports Partnership is running a pilot workshop for active women to provide you with the knowledge and practical solutions to help you continue to train and stay active.

Thursday 4th November | 7.30 to 9pm @Dungarvan Rugby Club

The areas that we will look at are:
– The Science of Menopause: What is Menopause and what is happening to our bodies?
– Training for the Menopausal Athlete: How our training needs to change as our bodies change. How to train, when to train, how hard to train and what sort of training is most effective.
– Nutrition for the Menopausal Athlete: How to change our fuelling strategy to match what is going on in our body.

Podcast & Training Programme

We are is delighted to run our Lets Run 0-5km Programme again this September. The programme will run over six weeks with the support of our weekly podcast and an option to attend an additional support session for those that are interested. The podcast is targeted at people who have always wanted to start running but never had the confidence to try.

The podcast will take you through weekly training sessions, over six weeks, at a time and day that suits your lifestyle. All you need is a smart phone, headphones and most importantly comfortable footwear.

Each Saturday morning at 9.30am in Kilmacthomas and at Waterford Regional Sports Centre participants will have the option to attend a face to face running session with one of our WSP Tutors for a limited number of participants (adhering to COVID19 government guidelines).

The Men on the Move Programme encourages men to get more active, have fun and improve their fitness levels through twice weekly activity sessions. The programme offers men the chance to learn and take part in safe, effective exercises tailored to suit their needs. Participants  should see both physical and psychological benefits such as improved mood, increased energy, weight loss/control and improved mobility and greater functional fitness. The sessions focus on aerobic exercises for forty minutes and work on core strength and flexibility for twenty minutes.

International Men’s Health Week 2021 runs from Monday 14
th to Sunday 20th June and is celebrated in many European countries.

The theme for 2021 is ‘Men, mental health and COVID-19, what next ?’

Celebrated internationally, the overall aims of Men’s Health Week are to:

  • Heighten awareness of preventable health problems for males of all ages.
  • Support men & boys to engage in healthier lifestyle choices / activities.
  • Encourage early detection & treatment of health difficulties in males.
