Published: April 23, 2025

Age & Opportunity |
Physical Activity Leaders (PALS) | Introduction Morning
Thursday 26th June | 10:30am -130pm | The Park Hotel, Dungarvan

Are you a member of an Active Retirement Group and interested in becoming an Physical Activity Leader for your group?

Why not come along to our information morning – it is an introduction to the PALs workshop (Physical Activity Leaders).
Age & Opportunity will be there on the day to inform groups on what the PALs workshops are about, and you will  get to try out the exercises before you make the decision on doing PALS. The PALS workshop involves someone from a group becoming a lead and who organises their groups in regular and fun physical activity sessions. The PALs will then, typically, go on to lead physical activities with their groups or communities of mobile older people.

If you are interested in hearing more about PALs please contact Jordan on 086 167 5642 or email jordankelly@waterfordsportspartnership.ie.

We are teaming up with the Woodlands Leisure Centre to bring the new and growing sport of Padel Tennis to you. Under the guidance of our dedicated Padel Coach for three weeks, this 6-week programme will teach you the game of Padel and you’ll reap the benefits of playing
racket sports.

The programme, which is open to men and women aged over 55, starts on
Friday 7th February and runs every Friday from 10-11am for six weeks.
Places are limited. €10pp | Book on eventbrite here

What is Padel Tennis?
Padel Tennis is a racquet sport like tennis, played on a smaller, enclosed court. It uses solid paddles instead of strung racquets, and a spongy tennis ball. The game can be played in singles or doubles, with the objective of hitting the ball over a net, ensuring it lands within the opponent’s side of the court. Walls are part of the playing area, and players can use them to bounce the ball. The rules are a mix of tennis and platform tennis.
