On Saturday 14th of July, Waterford Sports Partnership hosted the 2012 Women on Wheels Programme at the Regional Sports Centre. The Programme is for women who are new to cycling and or who cycled before and want to get back on the bike again. The ultimate aim is that by the end of this seven week programme the participants will feel ready to take part in this year’s Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford.
We were truly blessed with the weather and delighted with the great attendance as over 40 participants turned out on the day. To kick start the programme the participants attended an introductory workshop run by former professional racing cyclist Ciaran Power. Ciaran was supported by Comeragh Cycling Club on the day and covered topics such as bike maintenance, nutrition, road safety and bike skills before leading the ladies out on the road for their first spin.
Congratulations to all the women on completing their first spin, and we hope that you are eagerly awaiting your next spin which will be hosted by Waterford Sportif Cycling Club. Keep up the good work!!
