Water-based Activities Grant | Sample Answers

SAMPLE ANSWER A:

Club name: Waterside Rowing Club

1: Describe the proposed expenditure of the grant funding

The club will use the grant to purchase 15 Buoyancy Aids and a set of 2 oars for current and new members to be able to participate in weekly training sessions.

2: How will the expenditure increase participation?

Some of our old Buoyancy Aids are no longer safe to use on the water and need to be replaced. We are currently limited to the amount of members we can have on the water due to lack of equipment. Having additional equipment will allow us to open up membership to new participants.

3: Costing Breakdown (please give details of costs of expenditure)

15x Yak Buoyancy Aids @ €37 each (€37 x 15 = €555)

2x Orca Oars @ €72.50 each (€72.50 x2 = €145)

Total: €555 + €145 = €700

4: Proposed WSP programme details

The club will deliver a 6-week Come and Try Rowing programme for Adults over 18yrs old. The programme will incorporate both land based sessions and water based sessions, teaching the participants the basics of rowing. Each session will be 1.5hrs long and will take place in our club house in the City. Participants can look to join our club following the programme.

5: Proposed WSP programme dates

Starting Monday 1st June for 6 weeks @  6:30 – 8pm

SAMPLE ANSWER B:

Club name: Dolphin Surf Club

1: Describe the proposed expenditure of the grant funding

The club will use the grant to send x3 members on a Level 1 coaching course. Currently our club only has x1 Level 1 coach and we are struggling to provide enough lessons to each age group.

2: How will the expenditure increase participation?

With x2 more coaches trained up we can increase the number of participants we can take in the water. The additional coaches will also allow for additional sessions to be delivered

3: Costing Breakdown (please give details of costs of expenditure)

Level 1 Coaching Course @ €240pp (€240 x 3 = €720)

Total: €720

4: Proposed WSP programme details

The club will deliver a 6 week learn to surf programme for children ages 10 – 13yrs old. The programme will take place on Golden Beach and each session will last 1hr. Participants will have the opportunity to become members of the club following the programme. All equipment will be provided for the participants.
