Positive Ageing Week 2026

Positive Ageing Week 2026 –Friday 25th September to Friday 2nd October

Positive Ageing Week is all about celebrating ageing positively and highlighting the many ways we can stay active, connected and involved in our communities as we get older.

To celebrate, we are running a series of FREE ‘Come & Try It’ activities across Waterford city and county, giving older adults the chance to try something new, get moving, meet others and have some fun along the way.

All activities are FREE*

🥊 Boxercise Programme

Date: Four-Week Programme starting Saturday 26th September
Time: 11.45am
Venue: St. Paul’s Boxing Club, Lisduggan, Waterford
Details: We’ve teamed up with St. Paul’s Boxing Club for a FREE four-week Boxercise Programme for Men & Women aged 50+
Cost: FREE


🚶 Tramore Dunes Walk

Date: Sunday 27th September
Time: 10am
Venue: Meet at the Burrows Car Park
Details: A social stroll around the Dunes Loop.


🏑 Try Croquet

Date: Sunday 27 September
Time: 11am
Venue: Dobbyn’s Field, Cheekpoint
Details: We’ve teamed up with South East Community Croquet for a Taster Session for men and women over 50.


🏑 Try Croquet

Date: Monday 28th September
Time: 11am
Venue: Passage East Community Park
Details: We’ve teamed up with South East Community Croquet for a Taster Session for men and women over 50.


🏸 Try Badminton

Date: Monday 28th September
Time: 3pm–4pm
Venue: Butler Community Centre, St John’s Park, Waterford
Details: A Badminton Taster Session for men and women over 50.


🥾 Cruachán Paorach Walk

Date: Wednesday 30th September
Time: 10am
Meeting Point: Kilmacthomas Mill Car Park to carpool to the start
Details: We’ve teamed up with Kilmacthomas Hillwalking Club for a FREE forestry trail walk up to the top of Cruachán Paorach.
Duration: Approx. 4 hours Distance: 8km Difficulty: Moderate
What to bring: Hiking boots are essential. Please bring waterproof gear, water and a snack.


🎳 Try Lawn Bowls

Date: Wednesday 30th September
Time: 3pm–5pm
Venue: Causeway Tennis & Bowls Club, Abbeyside, Dungarvan
Details: We’ve teamed up with Causeway Tennis & Bowls Club in Abbeyside for a FREE Lawn Bowls Taster Session.

🏓 Try Table Tennis

Date: Wednesday 30th September
Time: 6.30pm–7.30pm
Venue: SETU Arena, Carriganore, Waterford
Details: We’ve teamed up with Waterford Table Tennis Club for a Table Tennis Taster Session for men and women over 50.
Equipment: All equipment will be provided.


💪 Try Circuits & Pilates

Date: Thursday 1st October
Time: 10.15am–11.15am
Venue: Kingfisher Club, Waterford
Details: We’ve teamed up with the Kingfisher Club for a Circuits (30 mins) & Pilates (15 mins) Taster Session for men and women 50+.
What to wear: Please wear comfortable clothing and supportive runners.


🏸 Try Badminton – Lismore

Date: Thursday 1st October
Time: 7pm
Venue: Lismore Community Centre
Details: We’ve teamed up with Lismore Badminton Club for a Badminton Taster Session for men and women over 50.
Equipment: All equipment will be provided.


🏓 Social Table Tennis*

Dates: Friday 2nd October, Friday 6th November & Friday 4th December
Time: 12 noon–1pm, followed by tea/coffee
Venue: Kingfisher Club, Waterford
Details: We’ve teamed up with Table Tennis Stars Waterford for a series of monthly Social Table Tennis sessions.
Cost: €15 for the full programme (+ Eventbrite fee).


🎯 Come & Try Pétanque

Date: Saturday 3rd October
Time: Drop in between 10.30am and 1.30pm
Venue: Tramore Pétanque Club – opposite the Majestic Hotel
Details: We’ve teamed up with Tramore Pétanque Club for a taster session for men & women over 50!


🏑 Try Croquet

Date: Saturday 3rd October
Time: 11am
Venue: Railway Square | Tramore
Details: We’ve teamed up with South East Community Croquet for a Taster Session for men and women over 50.
