In partnership with National Governing Bodies of Sport and local sports clubs, we offer a wide range of activities to secondary schools in Waterford to provide a sustainable pathway for young people to stay active.
All activities and teacher training courses are listed on our website, including schools updates, useful links and resources and guidance for becoming more active.
To help schools achieve this, we are offering the following opportunities:
Volleyball
We are partnering with Medusa Volleyball Club to deliver a programme to secondary school students.
The programme is appropriate for all year groups and must be delivered in a sports hall.
Logistics: The Volleyball Schools Programme will be delivered by a qualified coach. It introduces students to the fundamentals of volleyball in a fun and supportive environment. Through skill-based activities, teamwork exercises and friendly matches, students develop coordination, communication and a love for active living.
The programme is designed to be inclusive and build confidence while promoting a lifelong interest in sport.
Cost: €50.

Get Going Get Rowing (Teenage Girls)
We have teamed up with Rowing Ireland to roll out the “Get Going Get Rowing” programme.
The programme is designed to inspire TY students to try rowing, particularly those who might not normally consider the sport. It provides positive, inclusive and accessible indoor rowing experiences in schools, with opportunities to link with local rowing clubs.
The programme brings rowing machines to schools and includes coaching for students over a six-week period, helping them improve their fitness and technique. Additionally, it aims to introduce rowing to various age groups and promote it as a lifelong sport.

Athletics Girls Squad (Teenage Girls)
We have teamed up with Athletics Ireland to roll out the “Girls Squad” initiative.
The Girls Squad is an athletics-based programme designed to engage teenage girls in secondary schools, encouraging both sporty and non-sporty students to get active and build confidence.
Combining physical activity, mental health, wellbeing and leadership development, the programme introduces girls to track and field skills, yoga, strength training and healthy lifestyle habits in a fun, supportive environment.
With student journals, teacher resources and interactive content, it empowers girls to enjoy lifelong participation in sport and promotes positive self-development.

Cricket
We are partnering with Munster Cricket to deliver a 6-week modular cricket programme for Transition Year. The programme introduces students to leadership, cricket skills, technical components and coaching, while giving them the opportunity to develop the skills needed to help deliver cricket sessions to younger children. The programme includes 6 sessions, with an online training element leading to students being awarded the Cricket Ireland Activator Certificate upon successful completion.
Logistics: The programme is delivered by qualified cricket instructors, with support and mentoring provided to relevant teachers. Students will use the Smash It and It’s Wicket! resources and online training throughout the programme.
The sessions will develop students’ confidence, leadership skills and understanding of cricket, while preparing them to assist with coaching and delivering cricket activities.
Students who successfully complete the programme will receive the Cricket Ireland Activator Certificate.
Participants will also have the opportunity to be included in the proposed Interschool Cricket League.
Cost: €50, including the tutor and programme resources.

This programme is specifically for Transition Year students and will run subject to availability.

Try it Series! (Teenage Girls)
We are offering the HER Moves ‘Try It’ Series to secondary schools. The programme is designed to encourage teenage girls, particularly 1st Year students and potential TY students, to try a variety of different sports and physical activities, with a particular focus on engaging less active students. It provides positive, inclusive and accessible sporting experiences in schools through targeted HER Moves projects, giving students the opportunity to experience different sports in a fun and supportive environment.
The programme aims to help students build confidence, discover new activities they enjoy and encourage them to become more active.
Cost: €50.
