Helpers Certificate - (Swimming for People with Disabilities)
Course Content:
The Helper Certificate (Swimming for people with disabilities) will be held over 6-8 hours. This course is open to parents of children with a disability, disability organisation staff and other relevant persons. The course will equip you with:
Basic awareness of disability issues;
Basic knowledge of safety;
Basic knowledge of skills to help in a session led by a qualified teacher;
Knowledge of the benefits of swimming.
What skills you will need:
You do not need a high level of skill in the water to attend this course. You will need to be interested in the general area and have confidence in working with people with disabilities.

Who should take part in this course:
If you are interested in becoming involved with a disability swimming group and wish to assist;
If you want to move on to the assistant teachers course but would like some base knowledge;
Parent of a child with a disability interested in assisting the child when learning how to swim or become comfortable in the water.
