REC2 Course
This is a two-day course developing basic skills to deal with multiple casualties / injuries. It covers most of the situations which can arise at the scene of an accident or emergency. This course will cover: vital signs, accident procedure,injury management, first aid kits, common medical, emergencies, casualty handling, multiple casualties & prioritisation (Triage), drowning, resuscitation & CPR.

Award
Participants receive a Certificate recognising their achievement in fulfilling the course criteria.

Course Fee
The course is subsidised by Waterford Sports Partnership for Waterford based coaches & players – fee payable is €75.00 per person. Those interested outside Waterford please contact the office for fee and availability information.

REC3 Course
This two day course is not suitable for those requiring full Health and Safety Executive/Authority first aid training and is suitable for sports instructors and sports leaders. This course trains the first aider to manage an incident until professional medical care arrives and enables the candidate to deal with more than one casualty and over a longer period of time than in REC 2. Rec 3 covers all the topics outlined for level 2, the subjects are explored in more depth, with an emphasis on gaining a good understanding of the fundamental principles. This course will also cover physiology and spinal injuries, fractures, casualties with serious and multiple injuries, environmental injuries, burns, common medical emergencies, record keeping and liaison with rescue services that is not included in the REC 2 award. The REC 3 award also involves a 30 minute written examination as well as an external practical assessment

Award
